Departure from the hotel towards the Caglieron Caves
The caves, deeply eroded in sandstone banks, have in part been excavated by man to obtain the ‘piera dolz’, a cut stone used in construction for frames and jambs since 1500. A pedestrian path has been created along the various caves , facilitated by daring wooden bridges. You come out in the open near an old mill transformed into an inn-refreshment area.
Visit the Vajont dam
In Erto, one of the villages that make up the territory of the Friulian Dolomites Natural Park, is the Vajont Dam, the scene of the tragedy caused by the landslide of Mount Toc in the artificial lake of the dam which caused death and desolation in the valley below. It was 9 October 1963. The Vajont museum was set up in memory of the tragedy.
Visit to Valdobbiadene
Here the landscape is dominated by the vineyards of the renowned Prosecco; fine wine produced in these lands. The parish church, of fourteenth-century origins but with a neoclassical look, preserves works by Palma il Giovane.
End of the tour Walk in the city of Conegliano
It is the city of Giambattista Cima of which it preserves the birthplace and a beautiful altarpiece, in the Cathedral, depicting a “Sacred Conversation”. Via XX Settembre is the historic artery of the city, here stand: the Cathedral, the Scuola dei Battuti with the external frescoes by Pozzoserrato restored a few years ago and other palaces. Along the ancient walls of Carrara, you enter the Castle. We also recommend a visit to the great Enological School.
